It is an interesting static that out of the 2,500 or so folk living in Hook Norton, only around 2% regularly worshipped in the two Christian churches in the village; St Peter's church and the Baptist church, pre-Covid-19 lockdown! According to the 2011 census, 60% of the population identified as Christian, and yet less than 6% regularly attended church at least once a week, if you believe Wikipedia. Our architect, Peter Preston (Manifest Design Workshop), has finalised the drawing of Phase 1 which addresses all the external works to remedy the causes of damp, and improve access to the building for those who have difficulty with their mobility. A French drain will be built around the walls of the church, the capacity of the downpipes increased by adding additional downpipes which will be connected to the main drainage via the hall. "Just Desserts" presents, once more, Gospel Bell in concert at Hook Norton Baptist Chapel. Playing traditional Gospel songs with an uplifting spiritual edge, blended with musical influences from folk, blues and country, the evening will surely be entertaining and uplifting. As usual with our "Just Desserts" evenings, the adminission is free and so are the desserts and refreshments served in the hall afterwards. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Sajid Javid has just announced that there will be no restriction on communal worship and singing inside the church from Monday19th July, so start your vocal exercises and limbering up for songs of praise on Sunday 25th July! There will be no need to pre-book your seats either, so from Sunday 25th July just turn up and join us at 10:30am! All are welcome!
We are looking forward to opening our doors at 10am tomorrow and welcoming you all in! Pop in for a cuppa and a chat (socially distanced, of course), and meet friends old and new. Tomorrow, (Sunday 25th April) at 10:30am, Pastor Pete Brookes will start the sermon series on the Book of Revelation looking at chapter one! We will also be sharing the Lord's Supper and bringing Jelica into coventant fellowship. Kim will be singing songs of worship and Pete will lead us through prayer. Please do come along! We are delighted to announce that we are re-opening the doors to parents, carers and toddlers Friday mornings during school term time, starting this Friday 23rd April at the slightly earlier time of 9:15am! Their will be craft and activities for the toddlers, and a hot drink for the adults. We are still under Covid-19 restrictions, so all adults must wear a face mask whilst in the hall.
